CONTRACT HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL, WITH TANGENT REAR SIGHT. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 25252. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale under contract for the Belgian military in May of 1939. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with Belgian military proofs marked on the left side of the frame, slide, and right side of bbl. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, which feature red anti-moisture barrier paint on the interior of the panels. Dovetailed blade front sight, with V-notch tangent rear sight graduated 50-500. Thumbprint slide, with slotted back strap for a stock attachment. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 Belgian military accepted 13-rd. mag., with encircled "H" proof on spine. Body features a parkerized finish, with the split tail floorplate exhibiting a blue finish. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, some superficial marks from handling, storage, and disassembly, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Grip straps retain the majority of their blue finish, exhibiting consistent light to mild surface oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing and some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: the Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-257/MLW).
