JOSEPH FRESH, WILMORE PA. Cal. 36 rifled bore. NSN. Bbl. 36" full oct., stamped “J. FRESH”. Overall length 51". Has a curly maple stock & a 4 piece brass patchbox w/ one piercing. Bbl. has a 4 3/4" long bbl. tang, unusual but original. Unmarked percussion lock has dbl. set triggers. Brass 1 screw sideplate has a sm. brass wood screw where the second lock screw would have been had it been flint. It is circled w/ engraving to simulate a flint sideplate screw. Joseph Fresh worked in Wilmore, PA 1861-1867 & in Summerhill, PA from 1845 to 1861. CONDITION: appears to be fine & original throughout. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19542/RG).
