Cal. 44 Mag. S# N124137. Bbl. 6 1/2" pinned w/ thin (noticeably less than standard red insert) white insert set into Baughman sight blade along with corresponding white outline Micrometer rear sight. Shipped from factory on Sept. 28, 1973 to International Distributors Inc. of Miami, FL as one of 10 Model 29's having various barrel lengths. Other than its present engraving & rosewood target grips, it had a red insert front sight & Goncalo Alves target grips. Consignor states Tom Freyburger (known S&W engraver) did the engraving. It has vine style foliate relief carved engraving with punch dot backgrounds. The sideplate has lower case style "ng" gold inlaid; no indication as to meaning of "ng". The S&W logo is re-created (smaller) on the left side above front of trigger guard bow along with circled R trade mark symbol; Marcus Registradas marking remains on right front of frame as well as original barrel markings. The -2 after the model number signifies that it does not have the 4th screw in the trigger guard for the cylinder stop detent & spring. Fitted with case colored target trigger & target hammer. Grips have carving similar to the engraving along with small checkered panels & small gold medallions; thumb recess rather than speed loader cut out. No engraver signature was noticed, but the left side of the frame under the grips has "4 75" & boxed "R-Bi" indicating factory refinished April of 1975. The finish is clearly more polished than normal to include screw heads. The front sight blade & its base are matte finished; sides of bases are usually polished. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Roy Jinks (S&W Historian) research letter confirming shipping information & original configuration. CONDITION: very faint cylinder turn line; all other aspects near excellent (including the bore) having unfired appearance. (22-2871/NW). MODERN. $2,500-3,500.
