Cal. 50. S# 3685. Bbl. 21 1/2" round with octagon shank. German silver blade front sight with folding leaf rear sight. Single shot action is loaded by depressing latch in front of trigger and tipping barrel down. Mfg. by the American Arms Company of Springfield, Mass. with Poultney & Trimble agent marking. Left side of action has saddle ring bar only. Band fastened walnut forearm and straight grip stock with steel carbine buttplate. Right side of stock has partially visible cartouche. Estimated quantity over 30,000 mfg. 1861-1865. CONDITION: 50% barrel and action finish showing scattered surface corrosion. Breech and chamber show red rust. Refinished wood shows scattered scratches, dents and marks. Lower tang screw is missing. Bore is bright with strong rifling. (01-21702/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
