ASSEMBLED M1A STYLE NATIONAL MATCH SEMI AUTO RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x51. S# 000099. Bbl. 25" including flash suppressor. Barrel marked on right side w/ "SAK-7791362-3-76-8047056" & "P" proof. Barrel is marked on top between front sight & gas cyl. "NM". Rifle was assembled by noted Massachusetts gunsmith Harry G. Cakounes using a very early production Smith Enterprise Inc. forged receiver. The receiver, marked "U.S. RIFLE / 7.62 MM M-14 NM SMITH ENT." is fitted w/ an M14 accuracy lug which attaches to the front of the receiver & has a tensioning screw fastened through the stock in front of the mag. well. National Match rear sight including adjustable aperture & base marked "NM-2A". Windage knob is marked "NM" & "TOMCO". National Match marked front sight. Operating rod is marked "SAK" & electro-penciled to match. Bolt is marked "SA CA1". Trigger housing marked "SA" is additionally electro-penciled to match rifle. Hammer & safety marked "SA". Trigger group has been gunsmith modified for lighter pull & parts polished when necessary. Gas cyl. has attached to handguard ferrule by spot welding. Gas shutoff is functional. Bayonet lug is present. Rifle has been carefully bedded into a solid unmarked composite stock, likely Macmillan manufacture. Stock has heavy match profile & uses the standard lockplate. Stock is marked in barrel channel "HGC 86". Marked under buttplate trap "HGC". Stock has prominent Camp Perry 1986 decal on right side of butt. Sight adjustment data tag on right side of mag. well & Noah's Motors decal on left side of mag. well. Tan MRT sling dated "11-85". Fiberglass handguard has dark camouflaged pattern. CONDITION: stock set has the wear & handling marks expected from extensive range shooting, but remains in good solid serviceable condition. Metal retains 75% of its thinning lightly worn original parkerized finish. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. (25-4411/RW). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
