Cal. 45 ACP. S# 23122. Bbl. pinned 5 1/2" w/ semi-circular sight. Six shot fluted cyl. N frame 5 screw action. Butt of gun is marked "U.S. / Army / Model" & has lanyard loop. Bottom of bbl. is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Left side of frame forward of hammer has inspector marking "GHS" of Major Gilbert H. Stuart. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & trigger. 2 Piece smooth walnut grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Office of Smith & Wesson Revolver Manufacturers detailing the history of the Model 1917 U.S. Army Revolver. Letter details shipment to the U.S. Army, Springfield Armory, Springfield, MA in April 1918. Includes a U.S. marked leather flap holster. CONDITION: over 80% original blue showing carry & holster wear & light scratches w/ cyl. drag line. Grips show wear w/ dents & chips around butt area.
