REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W Special. S# 11080. Bbl. 6 1/2" w/ semi-circular sight. Six shot fluted cyl. First model hand ejector revolver is known as the triple lock due to its unique locking system. The 3 locking systems include the front of the cyl. w/ center pin, rear of the cyl. by locking bolt & special locking bolt at frame. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer & trigger. 2 piece checkered walnut grips w/ deeply set gold S&W medallions. Butt of gun has lightly hand-scratched initials "BP". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: S&W letter signed by historian Roy G. Jinks detailing the following information, "We have researched your Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector First Model (Triple Lock), caliber .44 S&W Special, with serial number 11080 in company records and find that it was shipped from the factory on October 30, 1916 and delivered to W. G. Waly Co., El Paso, TX. This firearm was shipped with a 6.5 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered walnut grips.". CONDITION: over 80% original blue showing muzzle & carry wear w/ cyl. drag line. Hammer & cyl. have lightly finished case colors. Grips show light wear & handling marks. Sound mechanics. Bright bore w/ strong rifling shows a few small dark spots. (24-4716/DS). CURIO. $3,000-4,000.
