REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W Russian. S# 7253. Bbl. 6 1/2" round w/ rib & semi-circular pinned blade front sight/ Six shot fluted cyl. Top break action. Nickel finish w/ case colored hammer, trigger & trigger guard. 2 piece smooth walnut grips. Grips have partially visible DAL cartouches w/ 1878 date on left panel. Butt of gun is marked "US". Bbl. has inspector's mark HN. This revolver is in the serial number range (7126-7405) of 280 guns supplied to the State of Maryland. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Office of Smith & Wesson detailing the following information, "We have researched your Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 .44 Single Action, caliber .44 S&W Russian, in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number 7253, was shipped from out factory on November 9, 1878, and delivered to United States Government, National Armory, Springfield, MA. The records indicate that this revolver was shipped with a 6.5 inch barrel, nickel finish, and smooth walnut grips. / We hope that this information is interesting to you.". CONDITION: 70% nickel showing spotted finish loss. Hammer retains traces of case colors. Grips show finish wear & handling marks w/ weak markings. Sound action. Pitted bore retains intact rifling.
