REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W American. S# 8137. Bbl. 8" rnd. with rib. Pin fastened semi-circular German silver blade front sight. 6-shot fluted cyl. 2-piece ivory grips. Approx. 8,000 mfg. 1870-1872. The First Model American preceded the Colt SAA by 3 years and is historically associated with the American West. CONDITION: metal has faded gray appearance with general pitting. Cyl. release at bottom of frame is an apparent replacement. Grips show heavy wear with checking having small chips at toe and heel. Revolver exhibits stiff operation when trying to open. Cyl. does not rotate when action is cycled. Dark pitted bore with partially intact rifling. (01-27250/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
