AMERICAN SA REVOLVER. Cal. 44 S&W American. S# 230. Bbl. cut to 5" w/ rib. Semi-circular German silver rear sight is solder reattached. Six shot fluted cyl. Extractor housing has a small vent hole at bottom as found on approx. the first 1,500 revolvers. Original finish was blued. 2 piece walnut grips. Total of about 8,000 mfg. 1870-72. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to brown showing small dents & handling marks w/ traces of blue remaining in protected areas. Sanded & undersized grips show dents & small chips. Action will not hold in cock position. Bbl. is loose at hinge exhibiting some side play. Dark lightly pitted bore. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of a Tennessee Gentleman. (01-25709/DS).
