REVOLVER. Cal. 357. S# S109756. Bbl. 3 1/2". Pre-Model 27 double action revolver mfg. by Smith & Wesson, circa. 1955-1956. Left side of the bbl. is marked "SMITH & WESSON", with the cal. designation marked on the right. Right side of frame is marked with the S&W trademark logo, followed by S&W's mfg. information. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the trigger and hammer, which exhibit a case color hardened finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece S&W medallion checkered wood grips. Ramped blade front sight, with adj. square notch rear sight. Top strap of frame and bbl. exhibit fine matte checkering. Matching numbers are present on the frame, cyl., ejector, and bbl. Interior of right grip panel is numbered "255493". Matching assembly #s are present on the frame and cyl. crane. CONDITION: major metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some scattered areas of wear that show through to gray patina, with some superficial handling marks present overall. Butt retains a mostly gray patina. Trigger and hammer retain strong case coloring. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain very good overall. (24-5636/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
