REVOLVER. Cal. 45 S&W. S# 1239. U.S. inspected revolver issued by the Benicia Arsenal to the San Francisco Committee of Safety during the labor riots of 1877-78. Top of the frame behind the hammer has the SFPD number "254". Bbl. 7" round w/ rib & semi-circular pinned blade front sight. Six shot fluted cyl. Blue finish w/ case colored hammer. 2 piece walnut grips. Left panel has clear cartouche. Butt is stamped "US". A total of 3035 mfg. 1875, nearly the entire production was shipped to the US Ordnance Department. CONDITION: 80% blue showing areas of flaking, scratches, handling marks & spotted corrosion. Hammer retains 80% case colors. Grips have worn finish showing numerous handling marks & small dents. Smooth action. Bore is generally bright w/ strong rifling. (01-24184/DS). ANTIQUE. $5500-7500.
