Cal. 7x57 (7mm Mauser). S# B2155. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Bolt handle body appears unnumbered possibly scrubbed or replaced. Cleaning rod unnumbered & stock number is very faint but appears to match. Other visible parts are matching including back half of bolt. Spanish American War configuration Loewe made 1893 Mauser. It is probable this is one of the rifles sold by Bannerman or Springfield Armory after the conflict. Receiver ring has Spanish crest with "BERLIN 1894". Left side of receiver has standard Spanish 1893 & Loewe markings. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels & faint 1894 dated cartouche on left side of butt. Cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set shows a small crack behind upper tang, scattered dings, handling marks & staining. Rear sight & bolt body have a bright cleaned appearance with oxidation & pitting. Bolt body is brighter than rear half of bolt assembly. Balance of metal is mostly gray with traces of bluing, oxidation, edge wear, pitting & some minor dings. Safety does not engage but action is otherwise functional when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered frosting & light pitting but good rifling. (01-28179/MJC). ANTIQUE. $300-450.
