PISTOL WITH MATCHING IMPORTER BOX. Cal. 9x23mm Largo. S# 42063. Bbl. 5 15/16". Model 400 (1921) semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Spain by Astra in 1929. Top of the slide is marked with the Astra logo (front) with "ESPERANZA Y UNCETA/ GUERNICA ESPANA" and "PISTOLA DE 9 M/M/ MODELO 1921" (rear). Left side of the frame is marked with a triad of Spanish proofs (Star/C indicating 1929 mfg.), with the "P" within a flaming ordnance bomb proof marked on the left side of the slide and right side of the bbl. Right side of the frame is marked "SPAIN" and with a "IAC ALEX VA" import mark. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl. and some small parts, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with with 2-piece Astra logo checkered brown synthetic grips, and features a grip safety. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight and fixed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: x1 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching importer box containing importer paperwork and a cleaning rod. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, scattered superficial handling marks, and a consistent scattering of light surface oxidation overall. Grip safety and rear of mag. release have faded to a mostly gray patina. In-the-white parts show scattered spots of light pitting and age related discoloration. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent light pitting and streaks of either darkened light pitting or hardened grease towards the breech, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show smoothing and scattered superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Box shows light exterior wear, but otherwise remains sound. (26-3058/MLW).
