Cal. 43 Spanish Reformado. NSN. Bbl. 37". Barrel is marked on top over chamber with "R". Rear sight is not present. Stud type front sight. Rifle manufactured at Oviedo Arsenal in Spain. Receiver is marked on the right side "crown / AR.O. / 1877". Breech block manufactured with firing pin retractor. Walnut stock set. Forend has three clamping bands retained by springs. Middle band carries sling swivel. Forend retaining bolt at rear has been removed and the hole filled on each side with wood filler. Buttstock has "bored soldier" carvings on both sides and brass tacks applied on each side of buttstock. Buttstock carries the rear swivel. CONDITION: stock set has a worn, stained arsenal rework type finish with notable loss of wood in inletted areas. Forend has missing chip and crack on left side. Wood filler shows hobbyist gunsmith workmanship. Metal has heavy wear turning gray and patina with notable small dents and handling marks. Bore has visible rifling with wear and shallow pitting throughout. (01-28961/RW). ANTIQUE. $450-650.
