Cal. 7.62x51mm. S# Z1935. Bbl. 22". Model 1916 bolt action short rifle mfg. in Spain by either Oviedo or Industria de Guerra de Cataluna and later converted to 7.62x51mm. The receiver is marked with the Falangist crest over the top of the receiver, with "CAL 7.62" and the S# marked on the left. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt assembly, which is polished in-the-white. 1-piece plain wood straight grip stock, with sling loop on left side of butt, and a plain wood handguard. Dovetailed blade front sight (with protective "ears") and tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 3-20. All serialized parts are matching and include the receiver, bolt body, trigger guard, and floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray and brown patinas, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation present overall. Top of the bbl. (to the rear of the forward band) exhibits a patch of mild pitting. In-the-white parts retain a mostly bright appearance, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of age related discoloration. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some small scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture is good, showing scattered superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col.
