HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION. Cal. 44 S&W. S# 5407. According to the factory letter, this revolver was shipped to Packard Electric Co. (the parent company of Packard Motor Cars) on January 20, 1911, with a 6-1/2" barrel, a blue finish, and checkered walnut grips. Revolver was a special order, but the details of the order are not readable on the invoice. This pistol does have target sights, a checkered trigger, and checkered grip straps. Grips are checkered walnut with gold S&W medallions. The revolver is marked with the S&W address on top of the barrel and the caliber on the left side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, retaining about 95% of the original bright blue with some light marks overall. Silvering can be found around the muzzle and sharp edges. There is some minor flaking on the rear portion of the sideplate and a small (1/4") area of roughness on the left side frame above the grips. The same area at the rear of the frame shows flaking. Drag marks are evident on the cylinder. Case hardening is strong (over 70%) on the trigger and hammer. Grips are good, showing light wear and some scratches. Bore is bright, sharp, and shiny. Mechanically fine. This is a lovely triple lock. (23-5440/MGM). CURIO. $5,000-8,000.
