1873 OPEN TOP LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF. S# 27908. bbl. 26" octagon with white blade front sight, V-notch sporting rear sight, with combination tang sight stamped "W" on bottom. Full length mag. Original finish was blue with case colored lever & hammer. Single set trigger. Walnut forend & pistol grip stock with crescent steel trap door buttplate. Mfg. 1877. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 4-piece cleaning rod held in stock compartment. An October 1983 copy of the gun report featuring an article about open top Winchesters. Cody Firearms Record's Check stating the following: "Type: Rifle / Barrel Type: Octagon / Barrel Length 26 inches / Trigger: Set / Received in warehouse on January 26 1878 / Shopped from warehouse on April 02, 1878". CONDITION: metal has faded to brown patina showing spotted light freckling. Lightly sanded and refinished wood shows wear and handling marks. Mechanically fine, trigger is setting properly. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-28020/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-8,000.
