Cal. 52 RF (56-56). S# 57315. Bbl. 22" rnd. Blade front sight with carbine leaf rear sight. Lever operated exposed hammer action has saddle ring and bar on left side. 7-shot tubular mag. inserts through the buttplate. Band fastened walnut forearm and straight grip stock. Left side of stock has a partially visible cartouche. User applied markings include "JB" on the toe line, series of 4 interlocking circles on left side with a circle having a reversed "R-J" on the right side. Approx. 50,000 mfg. 1863-1865. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to gray/brown showing small spots of corrosion. Wood has age darkened worn appearance showing numerous scratches, marks, and dents. Sound lock and action. Mag. tube is intact. Bore exhibits consistent mild pitting retaining sound rifling. (01-27195/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
