SRC. Cal. 56-50. SN. 9689. Bbl. 20" with blade front & leaf rear sight. Case colored action is fitted with the Stabler cutoff & has a saddle ring & bar on the left side. 7 round tubular mag inserts thru the buttplate. Band fastened forend & straight grip walnut stock. Left side of stock has 2 clear cartouches with hand carved initials "WBC" found below the saddle ring bar. Deeply stamped marking "U.S. / COL. TER" is located near the buttplate. Right side of the stock of this Indian Wars era carbine has 8 brass tacks in the shape of a "V". CONDITION: The right side of the action shows traces of case colors with the balance of the metal largely fading to gray .Wood shows heavy wear with deep dents, & marks. Right side of forend has 2 tack holes that appear to be from a tag that has been removed. The bore retains good rifles with spots of deep pitting. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of James B. Taylor.
