Cal. 56-50. S# 15232. Bbl. 20" rnd. Blade front sight with folding leaf carbine rear sight. Breech end of bbl. is marked "M1865". Lever operated action with hammer mounted on sideplate. Left side has a saddle ring and bar, with inspector's initial "M". Band fastened walnut forearm and straight grip stock with inletted sling swivel along toeline. 7-rd. tubular mag. inserts through the steel carbine buttplate. Approx. 34,000 mfg. in 1865, of which the U.S. government purchased 30,502. CONDITION: metal has faded gray appearance with scattered light pitting. Refinished forearm has rough appearance. Refinished stock shows numerous small dents and handling marks. Functioning action and lock. Inside mag. tube is intact. Dark pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-28014/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
