Cal. 12 Ga. S# 5957. Bbl. 32" of Damascus Steel w/ steel bead. Top flat of bbl. marked "SPENCER RGPT. SHOTGUN PAT. APL. 1882." Bottom loading, top ejecting action. Release lever is mounted in front of trigger guard. Left side of action is marked "F.BANNERMAN. MNFR. NEW-YORK. U.S.A. / MODEL 1890". Sm. rnd. bakelite pump handle & rnd. knob stock of checkered walnut. LOP: 13" over original buttplate. Toeline of stock has 1/2" diameter hole. Designed by Christopher M Spencer who was known for his Civil War carbines, these were the first successful repeating shotguns, 1882-1889. The Spencer patents were bought by Francis Bannerman of New York, who continued to produce the shotguns until 1907. CONDITION: metal finish is fading to gray w/ some remaining blue on protected areas of mag. tube. Forearm checkering is worn smooth. Stock has worn finish & checkering showing numerous scratches & marks. Bore shows light pitting & marks. (01-19932/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
