ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 365189. Bbl. 24". Marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 4-09". Rear sight w/ small windage & elevation adjustment knobs. Blade front sight. Rifle produced in 1909. Straight down bolt handle. Rifle has been sporterized by shortening the straight grip walnut stock w/ the removal of the handguard, bbl. bands, butt swivel & buttplate. The stock is fitted w/ a Pachmayr ventilated recoil pad. Wood plug in right side of butt. Butt swivel has brass plate w/ "W.A.K." marking. CONDITION: buttstock w/ extensive crack on left side in cheek area has been modified at heel to create a slight Monte Carlo profile. Considerable wood has been removed during the remodeling process & stock given a glossy finish. Metal has traces of original blue & the case hardened receiver has a distinct mottled appearance. An attempt was made on top of the receiver ring to drill for a scope mounting block, leaving a shallow hole. Bore has frosted grooves w/ well-worn rifling. (25-2832/RW). MODERN. $250-350.
