RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 3128380. Bbl. 24". Originally manufactured as a standard Model 1903 rifle by Remington, this example was subsequently sporterized via the shortening/modification of the stock, addition of a side mounted scope rail, as well as the addition of a Lyman adjustable aperture rear sight and Lyman globe front sight. The receiver is marked "U.S./ REMINGTON/ MODEL 1903" above the S#. Right side of buttstock exhibits a carved out rectangular panel, with "PMB" relief carved inside. "5-42" dated Rock Island Arsenal bbl. ECHO side mount is fitted with a Weaver J4 scope. Bolt has been modified, having been turned down and swept back. CONDITION: good, with metal components retaining large amounts of their parkerized finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting and strong rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Red rubber recoil pad has hardened and exhibits cracking overall. Optic is cloudy. (23-5145/MLW). MODERN. $250-350.
