Cal. 50-70. NSN. Bbl. 36'. Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight. Scarce 1870 Springfield Armory made trials Rolling Block with only 1,008 rifles made. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Left side of stock has faint inspector's cartouche & "10" rack number. Right side of butt has faint marking "Gn 95". Buttplate tang marked has "US 20" marking. Ramrod present. CONDITION: stock set appears lightly sanded with added finish, an 8" crack behind tang running into left side of butt, a large chip at rear right of bbl., a few other chips, scattered dings, finish loss, handling marks & scratches. Butt stock & rear sight are loose. Metal is a dull gray patina with scattered oxidation, edge war, dings & some areas remaining partially bright. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered patches of pitting with good rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28407/MJC). ANTIQUE. $900-1,400.
