Cal. 45-70. S# 140118. Bbl. 22", round. Blade front sight with model 1879 carbine rear sight. An 1873-dated, low-arch breechblock. Undated Springfield-marked lock. Long comb, band-fastened, walnut carbine stock. Left side has saddle ring and bar with partially visible cartouche. Left side of the stock has hand-scratched initials "RK" over a raised "A" near the center of the buttplate. Both sides of the stock have other hand-scratched markings. CONDITION: metal finish is largely fading to brown. Refinished stock shows numerous dents, scratches, and marks. Bore has a dark, frosted appearance with weak rifling. (01-25772/DS).
