Cal. 45-70. S# 531661. Bbl. shortened to 24" w/ original Buffington rifle rear sight & solder attached replacement ramp & blade front sight. 1884 Date low arch breech block. Springfield marked lock. Musket stock cut to approx. carbine length w/ filled ramrod slot. Comb of stock has unit marking "8 / NY / 553 / 1240". Right side of stock is marked "13 N.Y.". Left side of stock has partially legible cartouche w/ 1891 date. Toeline of stock is marked "N" / circle "P" proof mark. CONDITION: bbl. & receiver have gray coloration from touch up finish. Breech block & lock cleaned bright. Stock has added finish over dents & handling marks w/ open holes from sling attachment & sm. chips forward of trigger guard. Sm. crack extends from front of lockplate. Sound mechanics. Bore is generally bright w/ sound rifling. (01-17836/DS). ANTIQUE. $300-400.
