MODEL 1873 SPRINGFIELD RIFLE PRESENTED TO NORM FLAYDERMAN. Cal. 45-70. S# SA14. This is a beautiful example of Harrington & Richardson's model 1873 officer's rifle, blue & case color finish, tang sight, checkered stock, engraved lock, breech, and pewter nose cap, 24" barrel is Harrington & Richardson proofed and marked. 4.5" brass presentation plaque: "NORM FLAYDERMAN / Staff Arms Consultant / to the / Springfield Armory Museum / The Harrington & Richardson / Centennial / Officer's Model Springfield Rifle / 1871-1971". CONDITION: very fine to extremely fine overall, appears unfired, retaining virtually all its original bright blue and case colored finish. Crisp checkering and good burl pattern to walnut stock. Nose cap has crack. Mechanically crisp with bright shiny bore. PROVENANCE: Norm Flayderman family collection. (25-2123/JS). MODERN. $3,000-5,000.
