Cal. 7.62x51. S# 1143. Bbl. 16.5" Springfield Armory's contender in the wildly popular FN-FAL market included this example, the SAR-48 MATCH in the standard rifle configuration. Imported between 1985 & 1989, originally manufactured by IMBEL, Brazil, American civilians finally had the opportunity to own a quality metric pattern variant of the battle rifle known as the "Right Arm of the Free World". This semi-automatic Springfield offering was available in several configurations. Front sight is protected post. Rear sight is graduated peep sight adj. 200 to 600 meters. Black plastic forend, buttstock & pistol grip. Top folding carry handle. Folding, collapsible bipod mounted below gas block. Non reciprocating left side charging handle. Left side safety selector. Left side receiver markings include "SAR-48 7.62mm SA-11473". Right side receiver markings include "Springfield Armory Geneseo, IL USA / 1005-SA-48-MATCH" & crossed canon Springfield logo. Receiver bottom marked "IMBEL ITAJUBÁ BRAZIL". Original top cover. CONDITION: All aspects indicate very little use, if any. Action & even the barrel was filled w/ grease. Bore cleaned up for inspection & is bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (24-4828/JZ). MODERN. $1,200-1,800.
