Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 42" rnd. with smoothbore and "1845" date on top tang. Breech end of bbl. has "V/P/ (EAGLE HEAD)" proofs with apparent rack marking "178". "1845" dated Springfield lock with American eagle over "US" forward of the hammer. 3-band fastened walnut stock with iron fittings. Left stock ear has partially visible cartouche. Trumpet tipped iron ramrod. Approx. 172,000 mfg. at Springfield Armory 1844-1855. CONDITION: bright finished metal shows large spots of dark tarnish. Stock has worn finish showing numerous scratches, marks, and small dents. Right side of stock has a small crack behind the lockplate. Sound lock and trigger. Smoothbore has a frosted appearance showing scattered pitting. (01-27379/DS). ANTIQUE. $500-900.
