Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 12" rnd. with octagon shank, fixed front sight, and rifled bore. "1855" dated U.S. Springfield lock with intact Maynard tape primer. Band fastened walnut stock with sling swivels, brass butt cap, trigger guard, band, and forearm tip. Iron backstrap has provisions for carbine stock attachment. Bbl. is fitted with a button tipped swivel ramrod. Total produced of 4,021 Model 1855 pistol carbines mfg. 1856/1857. CONDITION: metal has faded to gray showing scattered light pitting and corrosion. Hammer is cracked part way through the neck. Stock has worn finish showing numerous dents and marks. Functioning lock. Dark pitted bore. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection.
