GUION SHIP LINE. 58 cal. NSN. Standard configuration, brass furniture, 12” barrel dated 1855 made for detachable stock. Lock dated 1856. The butt cap is fitted with custom silver lanyard ring marked “GUION LINE” & “BRANDY”. The Liverpool and Great Western Steamship Company, known as the Guion Line, was a British ship line Liverpool-New York route from 1866 to 1894. By 1870, the Guion line ranked third in the delivery of immigrants to New York with 27,054 passengers. It is unknown how this pistol became associated with the Guion Line. CONDITION: good overall, rear sight reconfigured to “V” notch from original 2-leaf. Swivel ramrod assembly restored. Tape primer still works but door does not latch.
