HISTORY. Cal. 58. NSN. This was the most advanced longarm in American armories are beginning of Civil War. The attrition rate was very high for these first 1861 dated model 1861s. This musket ended up in southern Mississippi as related by family oral history in accompanying copied email. Musket is in standard configuration 56' overall, 40" barrel, 1861 dated Springfield lock, "as found" with possibly Confederate made replacement ramrod.
