Cal. 45-70. S#. 440514. Bbl. shortened to 7" with rifling removed. bead front sight. 1884 dated low arch breechblock with 1873 dated lock. Stock is fashioned from a cut down rifle stock with an added extension to form the grip. The trigger guard is bent to match the grip contour. Pistol style trapdoor converted from a rifle. Many conversions such as this were used by the movie industry staring in the 1950's as surplus trapdoors were readily available & inexpensive at the time. CONDITION: blue finish is fading & becoming light. Stock shows heavy wear w/ scratches & marks. Sound action. Lightly pitted bore. (01-28129/DS). ANTIQUE. $ 500-1,000.
