1809. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 44 7/8". Standard configuration. Bbl. attached to stock w/ 3 spring retained bands. Rear portion is stamped w/ “P”, eagle head & “V” proofs along w/ an additional “V” & the “S” is visible from “US”. Bbl. appears to be in original flint configuration. 1795 style type II lock has removable rounded pan, straight top to cock, straight base to frizzen & spear finial on feather spring. Lock is stamped w/ “US”, eagle & “SPRINGFIELD” in front of cock & has date “1809” on tail. Walnut stock has deep fluted comb Triggerguard has rounded finials. Buttplate is stamped “1809” on tang. The initials “HP” are carved on right side of butt. CONDITION: bbl. has a mix of brown & dark heavy patina w/ some silver highlights. Lock is also heavy brown patina. Markings are quite clear. Feather spring & frizzen spring screws are replacements. Cock appears to be original. Stock w/ old refinish has some hand worn patina at grip & is covered w/ a lg. number of minor nocks & dings. There are no major losses of wood except for sm. piece missing at crack in front of lock plate. Bbl. channel is good w/ minor losses & a few cracks. Pitted bore. Lock will not hold at half cock, but is ok at full cock. (01-20134/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,250-2,000.
