Cal. 8mm French Ordnance. S# L23442. Bbl. 4 5/8". Model 1892 double action revolver mfg. by St. Etienne in 1922. Top flat of the bbl. is marked with the model designation, with inspector proofs marked on the left, and the year of mfg. "S 1922" marked on the right. Right side of the frame is marked Mre d'Armes/ St. Etienne." Frame, cyl., and bbl. exhibit a blue finish, with some small parts exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: good, with metal components retaining large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, with some pitting and light surface oxidation present overall. Strawed parts exhibit areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, with some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5987/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
