PERCUSSION REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 29018. Bbl. 8". Model 1863 Army single action percussion revolver mfg. by Starr Arms Co. Left side of the frame is marked "STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK," with "STARR'S PATENT JAN/. 15. 1856." marked on the right. "C" inspection proof is present on the upper assembly and frame, with an "L" inspection proof present on the bbl. and cyl. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece smooth wood grip. Blade front sight with hammer-notched rear sight. Full S# "29018" is present on the rear grip strap (beneath the grip), trigger guard (beneath the grip), grip, cyl., front face of the upper assembly (beneath the loading lever), as well as on the underside of the bbl. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting gray and brown patinas, with areas of surface oxidation and pitting present overall. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions and cyl. indexes appropriately when cycled by hand, with the hammer holding at both half-cock and full-cock. Wood grip shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (01-25438/MLW). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
