Cal. 52 RF. S# 20255. Bbl. 21" round w/ blade front sight & single folding leaf rear sight. Case colored lever operated action w/ saddle ring on the left side. Lock plate is marked ‘STARR ARMS CO/YONKERS N.Y.”. Single shot action operated by combination lever trigger guard allowing breech block to lower & tip backwards. Brass band fastened forearm & straight grip stock w/ brass crescent buttplate. Left side of stock has hand carved initials “AM”. Total of 20,601 mfg. 1862-1865 during the American Civil War. CONDITION: 75% dull bbl. blue showing wear spots & handling marks. Action has traces of case colors w/ balance fading to gray. Wood has worn finish w/ numerous scratches & marks. Bore is generally bright w/ strong rifling showing spots of very light pitting. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (01-22551/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
