CROSSOVER STOCK. Cal. 12 Ga., 3". S# 1740. Bbls. dovetailed 30" are engraved "J&W Tolley 59 New Bond St. London" on slightly swamped game rib with crossbolt extension. Bbl. flats are stamped with Birmingham Nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. Case hardened toplever action is fitted with front spring sidelocks with serpentine rebounding hammers. Action is fitted with Greener crossbolt third fastener and double triggers. Action and lockplates are line border engraved, maker's name is on each lockplate. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock of lightly figured European walnut is sharply offset to allow for shooting right handed while using one's left eye. Stock measures approx. 14 5/8" over ribbed horn buttplate. Remnants of point pattern checkering are at grip. Matching splinter forend with shaped steel tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .737", L .734". Restriction: R .002" (IC), L .030" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .020", L .025". STOCK: DAH: approx. 3". DAC: approx. 2 1/8". LOP: 14 5/8". CAST: wicked off. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 2 oz. CONDITION: good. Bbls. retaining most of an old reblue with a few subsequent dings and marks. Action retains traces of case hardening color but is mostly pewter gray. Lockplates are also silver gray. Stocks show considerable refinishing and a large number of marks and dings. Checkering almost gone. Bores are shiny with some light frosting evident. Action is somewhat loose. Locks are good.
