SELF-LOADING RIFLE. Cal. 351 SL. S# 48948. Bbl. 20". (1 of only 979 mfg. between 1941-1942) Model 07 (1907) self-loading rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1941 . The left side of the bbl. exhibits markings stipulating Winchester's mfg. and patent information, as well as the model and cal. designations, with "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" marked towards the breech. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and plunger, which are polished in-the-white. Plain wood pistol grip buttstock and forend, with grooved steel buttplate. Dovetailed and brass beaded Lyman blade front sight, with dovetailed flip-up U-notch rear sight, and fixed receiver mounted peep rear sight. Bbl. band sling loop is absent. Matching numbers are present on the upper and lower assemblies. MAGS: 1 5-rd. CONDITION: very good to excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting few spots of light wear and thinning (predominately on the rear of the bbl.), with some superficial handling marks present overall. Bbl. band exhibits mild wear and thinning on edges, with some light to mild pitting. Buttplate retains a mostly gray patina. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall. A remarkably clean and high condition example of an extremely late Winchester Model 1907 self-loading rifle. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (25-1853/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
