Cal. 12 ga., 2 3/4". S# 58785. Introduced in 1904, the Model 520-30 was discontinued in 1932. In 1942 the government purchased all available guns from Stevens including unused 520-30 receivers. The 520-30 tooling was still available and operable. The U.S. Ordnance Department standardized the M520-30 and placed orders for new guns. A total of 35,306 were purchased by the government during WWII including trench, riot and training versions. Bbl. 20" cylinder bore with brass bead. 6 Row handguard with proper plum colored bayonet lug. Square stern action features a top tang sliding safety. Right side of barrel lug and left side of action at front is marked "P" over flaming bomb. Left side of action over trigger is stamped "US". Front of trigger guard is stamped "S" on slanted part and "M" forward of trigger guard bow. Plain round forearm and pistol grip walnut stock with original swivels and buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1918 dated Remington bayonet with eagle over "18" and flaming bomb over "US" on right side. Green painted composite scabbard. Blade has gray parkerized finish. Dark worn scales. CONDITION: 70% dull worn military finish blending with patina and spots of corrosion. Wood has age darkened original finish showing scratches, marks and mildew spots. Bright bore shows small spots of very light pitting. (22-4158/DS). CURIO. $1,750-2,500.
