WITH SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 9mm Steyr. S# 218B. Bbl. 5". The Romanian Steyr-Hahn pistols are one of the least frequently encountered contracts. This example is marked with a reapplied Romanian crown surmounting "Md. 1912" and dated "STEYR 1914". At the rear of the slide is the inspection "S". Matching slide, frame, and bbl. each numbered "218b". Slide and bbl. have been renumbered to match. Fitted with bordered checkered walnut grips. Leather tab through fixed lanyard loop is stamped "17" above an impressed Austrian eagle crest. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: complimenting the pistol is a close copy of an original Steyr stock as would have been fitted to the earliest single line address commercial pistols. A cup made front a copper casting, finished with black enamel, whose internal tensioning was associated with a checkered lever mounted on the left side, was attached to a wooden hollow shoulder similar in function to a C96 stock. CONDITION: the refinished pistol still has 95-98% of the reapplied rust blue, slight thinning and minor superficial pitting still apparent on the front and back straps. Several of the small parts that were original strawed are now in-the-white. Grips with moderately sharp checkering, oil staining, handling marks. Dull bore. Correct manual mechanics. Excellent, recent reproduction shoulder stock whose tensioning lever will need adj. A rare contract Steyr-Hahn coupled to one of Steyr's most difficult to encounter accessories, albeit a closely reproduced copy. (25-3534). CURIO. $4,000-6,000.
