CARBINE. Cal. 6.5x54mm MS. S# 23413. Bbl. 18". Raised ramp mounted brass bead front sight with bbl. band mounted rear sight having 1 fixed and 1 folding leaf. Left side of bbl. and receiver are marked "136.33", followed by a "C" and "6.7" with "NPV" and eagle proofing. Left side of receiver is marked "OESTERR. WAFFENFABR.-GES.STEYR". Front receiver ring retains base for QD scope mount. Rear scope mount is removed with 1 hole plugged and a filler screw in the rear hole. Action features a butterknife bolt handle, wing type safety, double set triggers, and rotary mag. Detachable mag. is removed by rotating the floorplate. Floorplate and trigger guard bow have custom oak leaf engraving with punch dot backgrounds and elaborate borders. Floorplate has gold inlaid crown over gold inlaid "SS" monogram. Full length Mannlicher carbine style stock of fancy walnut. Forearm section has heavy contour through finger groove area and is greatly thinned through the forward portion, terminating in a steel nose cap. Heavy portion of forearm and wrist of pistol grip stock have French style skip line checkering with highlights of oak leaf carving. Straight comb stock features a European style shadow line cheekpiece and horn grip cap. Bale style front sling swivel. LOP: 14 3/8" over a leather covered recoil pad. Weight: 6lbs. 12.8oz. CONDITION: metal retains 80% reblued finish with thinning from carry wear on the floorplate and trigger guard. Action markings are weakened from polishing. Refinished stock has thinned oak leaf carving with freshened checkering. Sound action and triggers. Dark bore retains lightly worn rifling with a rough appearance in the grooves. (25-5012/DS).
