HAMMER EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH SCROLL ENGRAVING BY BRUNO GOLDANI. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 121. This fine gun was made at the time when the now revered firm of A&S had resolved to produce some of the finest guns ever made. This example has 26-3/4" chopper lump barrels with swamped game rib. Maker's name is on top of left barrel and barrel flats are stamped with 1977 Italian nitro proofs. Part of the tradition with these early A&S guns is that the individual craftsman responsible for the building would have their first names stamped on the bottom of the rear lump. In this case they are Mario (Abbiatico), Remo (Salvinelli), Primo & Tony. The company came up with a very distinctive treatment of the fences for their hammer guns with large ovals at tops to house firing pins. This is sometimes jokingly referred to as "disco-volante" (flying saucer) fences. The top lever action with non-automatic safety is essentially a sidelock hammerless gun with extended tumbler ends to accommodate hammers so that in operation hammers, besides striking firing pins, are cocking indicators and levers. Action is engraved with 80% coverage nicely cut rose and scroll. Maker's name is on bottom. The signature of the well regarded Bruno Goldani ("GOLDANI") is on trigger plate. Action is also fitted with double triggers (front articulated). Single beaded trigger guard engraved with matching scroll, has S# on tang. Straight grip buttstock of lightly marbled and figured European walnut measures 14-1/2" over dark brown leather covered pad. Stock features drop points and closely spaced point pattern checkering on diamond hand. A gold oval engraved with monogram "CCS" is on toeline. Matching long splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .726. R .726. Restriction: L .014 (Mod). R .006 (IC). Wall thickness: L .028. R .026.
