GAME GUN BY SKIMIN & WOOD RETAILED BY KIMBALL'S OF WOBURN, MASS. WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2". S# 87972. Kimball Arms Company of Woburn, Mass. started as a semi-custom rifle maker teamed up with Ned Roberts in the 20s & 30s. This gun retailed by the later Kimball Arms Company has 26" dovetailed bbls. silver inlaid "FOR 2 INCH CASE ONLY" on narrow matted game rib. Tops of bbls. are engraved "Kimball Arms. Co. Woburn Mass" & "Made in England". Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2" chambers & 7/8 oz. of shot. Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ about 60% coverage well cut scroll w/in scroll & line borders. Right side is engraved "Skimin & Wood" in scrolling riband. Left side in matching scroll is engraved "20th Century A". Blued top lever, floorplate & trigger guard are engraved w/ matching scroll. S# is on trigger guard tang. Rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock of well streaked & figured European walnut measures 14 1/2" over checkered horn buttplate. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching short splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .730", left: .730". Restriction: right: .020" (MOD), left: .023" (MOD). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .023", left: .026". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 5/8". LOP: 14 1/2". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 9 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes w/ tan canvas leather trimmed case by Brady. Interior lined in burgundy cloth & contains cleaning equipment, square oil bottle & a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: fine, bbls. retaining over 90% original blue w/ some slight thinning & some sharp edge wear. Action retains around 90% original case hardening color silvering on edges of fences & around bottom from normal hand wear. Top lever & floorplate retain over 95% of their blue. Blue on trigger guard considerably flaked to grayish brown w/ perhaps 10% blue remaining. Stocks retain over 90% of their original hand rubbed oil finish w/ some light marks & scratches. Checkering somewhat worn. Bores are bright & shiny & have no noted repairs or problems. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are in time. Case is very fine. Exterior somewhat faded. Straps & handle are good. Interior is fine w/ some rubs & marks. Accessories are near new. A truly fine gun. (21-4006/MGM). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
