ART (DENIS FONTANA) WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 210. This little known high quality gunmaker started in business in 1996 and continued until about 2015. Examination of this gun indicates his quality level approaches the very best being similar to Fratelli Rizzini and Ivo Fabbri. This fine gun has 28" demi-block barrels fitted with low flat matted ventilated rib. Left side of top barrel is engraved "ARMI ART GARDONE V.T. - ITALY". Barrel flats are stamped with 2005 Italian proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Choke info and barrel weight are stamped on left sides of barrels. Coin finished Boss type O/U action features non-automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), pinless locks and single non-selective trigger. Action is filed in Boss manner . S# and model ("DESIDERIO" in gold) are on watertable flats. Action and locks are engraved with very cleanly cut and attractive swirling scrolls of ribbon terminating in bouquets of flowers all within a background of small scroll. This very attractive decoration is enhanced by the portrait of a spaniel retrieving a dove on bottom of action. Engraver's signature on trigger plate reads "RiTa inc. (scroll) Piardi P." (Bullino) (?). Beaded edge small bow trigger guard is engraved with matching scroll on bow and S# on tang. Attractively marbled and stump figured European walnut extreme pistol grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over brown Kickeez pad. Stock features nicely shaped drop points and closely spaced point pattern checkering on grip with right hand palm swell. Semi-beaver tail one piece ejector forend has Anson type release.
