Cal. 6.5x55mm. S# 347066. Bbl 24". Originally manufactured as a standard M96 rifle in 1915 at the Carl Gustaf rifle factory, this example and approximately 30,000 other M96 rifles were modified with a 24" and new rear sight after the adoption of the M91/41 cartridge. The receiver is stamped with a large crown/C above "CARL GUSTAFS STADS/ GEVARSFAKTORI/ 1915" over the chamber, with inspector stamp "H.K." followed by the serial number on the left. Century Arms International import mark on right side of barrel. Metal components exhibit a blued finish, with the 1 piece stock and handguard being comprised of solid wood. Standard blade front sight, with Metallverken Vasteras adjustable rear sight. Right side of buttstock retains its brass trajectory disc. Stock has been lightly sanded and revarnished at one time. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the buttstock (which appears to be a factory misstamp, being numbered "345066", and the handguard. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to gray patina. Receiver shows some scattered spots of pitting, beneath the finish, but is otherwise very good. Buttplate is in the white and shows some areas of pitting and dark discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered marks and minor impressions from storage and handling, but is otherwise very good overall. (23-2565/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
