MARKING. Cal. 6.5 Swedish. S# HR28888. S#s match on receiver & bolt assembly. Bbl. 17 3/4". These attractive & handy carbines were adopted by Sweden in 1894. As well as for Calvary these carbines were used to arm the artillery, train troops and the Navy including Marines and Coast Artillery. In 1914 the carbines were modified w/ a new nose cap to allow the use of a bayonet. Many of these rifles were purchased by Interarmco who had the mfg. dates removed from the receiver rings & the "INTERARMCO G33/50" applied. The significance of the numbers is controversial & was unrelated to anything done by the Swedish military. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1600 meters. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears which are integral w/ the bayonet mt. Turned down bolt handle. The muzzle of this rifle was not modified. European walnut stock set. Stock has grasping grooves and provision for side sling. Leather sling buckle is present. Steel marking disk on right side of butt retained by brass screws marked "CAL 6.5MM SWEDISH" "MADE IN SWEDEN". CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear & handling marks while retaining a good visual appearance. There is an approx. 3" crack along the left side of the grip & a notable dent in the top of the handguard. The metal parts retain the majority of the blue & arsenal rework black finish. Bolt assembly is finished bright. Very good shiny bore. (24-1363/RW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
