Cal. 7.5 Swiss. S# 86052. All visible numbers match except rear sight slide. Bbl. 23 1/4". These rifles were a handier shorter version of the model 1911 Infantry rifle and were issued to specialized troops such as Engineers. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver marked with "BP" proof and "Swiss cross". Brown composite bolt knobs. Bayonet lug and stacking bar are present. Walnut stock set. "Cross in shield" acceptance mark on right side of butt. Vintage unmarked brown leather sling. MAGS: one matching 6 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Model 1889/11 Bayonet with 11 3/4" fullered blade. Blade has machined recess to lock into scabbard. Metal parts are finished bright. Right ricasso marked "WAFFENFABRIK NEUHAUSEN". Smooth Walnut grips retained by two rivets. Steel scabbard with black finish and leather retaining strap. Bayonet and scabbard have lightly worn original finish. Correct brass and steel muzzle cover. CONDITION: Stock set has original finish with the usual wear, staining and handling marks expected in a rifle which has seen long service. Two app. 1/2" cracks behind receiver tang. Metal retains 60% of its original blue finish with wear and handling marks. Very good shiny bore. PROVENANCE: from The Collection of Curtis H Halvorson. (23-5948/RW). CURIO. $ 300-500.
