BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 7.5 Swiss. S# 277333. All visible numbers match except buttstock. Bbl. 31 1/2". These rifles were a model 1896 updated to model 1911 standards. The changes included a new detachable 6 rd. mag new rear sight and a pistol grip added to the stock. Receiver is marked "BP" and "Swiss cross". Barrel has similar markings over chamber. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Blade front sight. Red composition bolt knob. Stacking bar and bayonet lug are present. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked at heel "SOLOTHURN" and"VAUD" which are cantons in Switzerland. The forend has an orange colored band painted between the barrel bands. The stock was given a pistol grip as part of the upgrade. UNNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brass and steel muzzle cover. MAGS: one 6 rd. detachable. CONDITION: The stock set has a moderate amount of wear, staining and handling marks over the finish applied when upgraded. Metal retains 60% of its worn thinning blue. Bolt knob has a loss of material due to improper installation. Good shiny bore with lightly worn lands. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Curtis H Halvorson.(23-5923/RW). CURIO. $300-400.
